Buzz and Jessica have graciously volunteered to give a presentation to the Stanford alumni group and TCAN members; the presentation will be a forward-looking talk on climate impacts, adaptation, and policy, and will include discussion of some possible solutions.

Barton "Buzz" Thompson is a leading expert in environmental and natural resources law and policy. He has contributed a large body of scholarship on environmental issues ranging from the future of endangered species and fisheries to the use of economic techniques for regulating the environment. He is the founding director of the Stanford law school's Environmental and Natural Resources Program, Perry L. McCarty Director and senior fellow of the Woods Institute for the Environment, and a senior fellow (by courtesy) at the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies.

Jessica Hellmann is the director of the Institute on the Environment at the University of Minnesota. She is also the Russell M. and Elizabeth M. Bennett Chair in Excellence in the Department of Ecology, Evolution and Behavior in the College of Biological Sciences. A skilled science communicator, Hellmann is routinely called upon by leading media outlets around the world such as CNN, NPR, Fox News, The Telegraph and the Chicago Tribune to provide expert input on topics related to global change and ways to minimize adverse impacts to people and nature.
